The Subaru Crosstrek's two available powertrains are both more powerful than the Honda HR-V. Crosstrek Base and Premium trims are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque) paired with a six-speed manual or available Lineartronic® transmission. And If you want a little more internal motivation, Sport and Limited tiers equip a 2.5-liter engine that boosts output to 182 hp and 176 lb-ft. The HR-V's sole engine is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that makes 141 hp and 127 lb-ft.
With standard Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive, Crosstrek delivers superior capability for inclement conditions and off-road explorations. Plus, if you choose the automatic transmission, you'll get the added surefootedness of X-MODE advanced traction management and hill-descent control. The HR-V offers all-wheel drive, but it's not standard on any trim, and there aren't any options to enhance its capability.
2022 Subaru Crosstrek vs. Honda HR-V: Accommodations and Utility
If you're seeking a small crossover with a spacious and versatile interior, both models should fit the bill, as they're two of the segment's roomiest options. You can get these features with the CR-V, but only on the top two trims.

Similar technologies are available on the Honda HR-V, but only on the top two tiers, and a lane-centering feature isn't available.
